I am an advocate for effective project governance as the key to unlocking the strategic value of projects. I have been an active researcher in project governance for over ten years. During that time, I have published various papers and book chapters on project governance and its role in strategy implementation. Through this research, I have identified recurring patterns of governance missteps that destroy project value and/or lead to missed opportunities for maximising value. This has led me to conclude that the project governance system should fundamentally serve as the steward of an organization’s project investments. I seek to bridge the divide between academia and practice, building on the cross-pollination of ideas between the two to identify innovative solutions for project value maximization.
In 2015, I had the privilege of interacting with Jed Simms, whose pioneering ideas on governance deeply inspired me. His philosophy on governance, I believe, was far ahead of its time. Jed’s work led me to discover TOP’s models and methods, which immediately resonated with everything I had learned over the years, as well as everything that I have learned since. I am convinced that TOP’s extensive body of knowledge has the potential to revolutionize not only how we deliver value through projects, but also how we fundamentally view projects, i.e., as actively managed investments. The implications are staggering – the ability to potentially unlock the unrealized value of billions of dollars invested in projects each year. I am committed to making this future a reality.
